Ponte Garibaldi Bridge, Rome
Ponte Garibaldi Bridge is one of the main sights of the historical part of Rome, built in the late 19th century. The bridge is situated on the Tiber River, which is the most important artery in the life of modern Rome, and besides being the pedestrian zone, it is also possible to ride on car and tram here.
History of the Garibaldi Bridge
Garibaldi Bridge in Rome was built by 1888. His name was given in honor of the Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi, the real hero of the Risorgimento period – the period of the Italian national liberation movement against foreign domination.
At present, the bridge of Garibaldi is considered the main gathering place for politically active youth. Peaceful riots are held here, posters are hung, slogans are proclaimed.
It is worth mentioning the column-support in the composition of the bridge of Garibaldi that is in the central part of the bridge and forms two arches.
