Palace Caravita di Sirignano, Naples

Palace Caravita di Sirignano, Naples

Palace Caravita di Sirignano in Naples is a monumental 16th-century building, located along the Riviera di Chiaia. Since its foundation, the owners have repeatedly changed and of course the palace was reconstructed. Despite this, the palazzo is still striking with its beauty.

History of the Palace Caravita di Sirignano

The construction of the palace was started in 1535 on behalf of Don Ferdinando Alarcon, a Spanish general known for his scam with Joanna of Aragon, Queen of Naples. The palace was completed in the 17th century by the decoration of the rooms.

In the early 18th century, the palace passed into the hands of Caracciolo di Torella, and in 1815 it was completely reconstructed by Antonio Annito.

In 1838, Prince Leopold of Bourbon-Sicilian bought the property and hired architect Fausto Niccolini to reconstruct it. The territory at that time included 3.5 acres of land, as well as a small theater, where the count organized concerts and performances.

After 1860 Luigi Kompania became the new owner of the palace and he lived in it with his family until the end of the 19th century. In 1889 the palace Caravita di Sirignano was a meeting place for artists. Also the house of the Count de Marzi, Placido de Sandro was here.

In 1937 the palace Caravita di Sirignano was acquired by the shipping company Tirrenia di Navigazione.

In 2017, the palace was bought by the Neapolitan businessman Nunzio Colella. It is assumed that the office of the company Gruppo Capri will be located here, which owns the trademarks Alcott and Gutteridge.
