Cavalcanti Palace, Naples
Cavalcanti Palace in Naples is a monumental palazzo located on Via Toledo. It was built in the 18th century by order of the Marquise Angelo Cavalcanti. The author of the project was the famous Italian architect Mario Gioffredo. In the 19th century one more floor was added to the composition of the palace. In the period from 1945 to 1980, the Cavalcanti Palace was a holiday palace. In 1981, the palace was included in the municipal property, at the same time they decided to carry out the reconstruction in the walls of the palace.
Currently, the main floor of the palace is used as the headquarters of the Italian Institute of Humanities.
Architecture of the Cavalcanti Palace
The composition of the palace is an example of neoclassical style. The building has five stories. The main decorations of the facade are windows framed by columns and original plaster. A long balcony runs along the length of the facade. The windows of the second floor are not that heavily decorated
The portal, surrounded by columns, deserves special attention.
In the patio, there is a staircase on the facade of the building. The interior of the palace is also decorated in neoclassical style.
