History of Castriota Scanderbeg Palace
The Palazzo belonged to the family of Castriota Scanderbeg – the national hero of Albania, the leader of the anti-Ottoman uprising. In the 17th century the palace was acquired by the Marquis of Pisacane, according to the project of the new owner the palace was completed with one more floor. In this period, the garden was added to the composition of the palace. In the 18th century a fountain was built in the courtyard.
In 1889, the portal, which previously adorned the entrance to the chapel of Santa Maria di Mezzagosto, was transferred to the Castriota Scanderbeg Palace. It was moved here to prevent the demolition of the palace. In the walls of the palazzo portal is located in our days.
