Monument to Camillo Cavour, Rome

At the famous Piazza Cavour in Rome there is a monument dedicated to a man in whose honor the square was named. Count Camillo Benso di Cavour was the Prime Minister of the Sardinian Kingdom and the first Prime Minister of Italy. The role of this politician was exceptional in the history of the unification of the country. The monument was opened on September 24, 1895. It was not a simple date: on this day the 25th anniversary of the capture of Rome is celebrated, which was the last step on the road to the unification of Italy. The majestic pedestal is decorated with bas-reliefs and bronze sculptures.
It is worth paying attention to Piazza Cavour itself, where in the late 19th century there was a garden with palm trees. In addition, the Palace of Justice is on this square. It is close to the Castel Sant'Angelo.
