Lake Bracciano, Lazio region

There is a picturesque lake called Bracciano (Lago di Bracciano) located near Rome. The legend has it that a piece of a sunken town can be found on the bottom of the lake that is 150 deep. Bracciano is the main source of water for Rome that’s why it is called “The Well of the Eternal City” and its cleanliness is thoroughly cared for. A hill with the town of Bracciano lies on lake shore – it is well-known for the medieval castle called Orsini-Odescalchi and its walls towering over the conservation area.

Lake Bracciano is located 30 kilometers away from Rome. You can reach this place by taking a train that departs from the Ostiense station every 30 minutes.
