Piossasco Palace, Turin

Piossasco Palace, Turin

Piossasco Palace (Palazzo Piossasco di Rivalba) is a typical example of an urban development of the early 19th century. It fits perfectly into the ranks of the same houses, formerly owned by rich noblemen, hanging over the narrow streets of the city center. The Palazzo was built in 1800, the name of the author of the project remained unknown. It originally belonged to the noble family Piossasco di Rivalba. This is a typical representation of the Baroque style, prevailing in Turin. Strict contours are emphasized by straight lines of windows and modest decorations in the form of simple stucco molding. The palace has two small wings and an inner courtyard with a characteristic structure of that time: a series of porticoes, a gallery and a façade decorated with bas-reliefs. During the Second World War, the house was damaged by bomb explosions. After the renovation, residential apartments were placed here. Now on the first floor of the building there are several shops, and on the upper floor – hotel apartments.

How to get there

The building is located in the historical part of Turin, on Via Cavour, 13. Opposite of it there is a similar Palace des Haies. Nearby there is the central station of Porta Nuova. Carlo Alberto is in a 5-minute walk away. It can be reached by tram № 9, and buses № 6, 24, 33, 52, 61, 67, 68.
