Palace of the Immacolatella, Naples
The Palace of the Immacolatella is a historical building in the central part of Naples. It is located in the port area. The palace was built in the 40s of the 18th century by King Charles of Bourbon with the aim of locating the health headquarters here. The author of the palace project is the architect Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. The baroque style was chosen to create the palace. The palace is built in the shape of an octagon.
A statue of the Immaculate Conception deserves special attention, which is located on the top of the palace and is a distinctive feature of the building. It was thanks to this sculpture that the Palace of Immacolatella got its name.
Also another attraction near the palace there is the Fountain of the Immacolatella, nowadays known as the Fontana del Gigante. It was designed by the architect Michelangelo Nacerino and was originally associated with the building of the palace. Later the fountain was moved to the seaside road through Nazario Sauro, near Castel dell’Ovo.
