The house-museum of Mario Praz in Rome was opened in 1995 in a house where the famous Italian writer, journalist, collector Mario Praz (1896-1982) used to live. Inside everything looks exactly the same as during the life of the writer. Here you will see a rich collection of antiquities – about 1400 exhibits located in 10 rooms on the third floor – where Praz lived his the last few years.
Exhibits of the Museum House
In the museum of Praz there are exhibits, which the collector gathered throughout his life in different parts of Italy and Europe. The collection contains works of art, English furniture, paintings, books, products made of precious metals and stones. Including, products from German porcelain, clay, marble and wax.
The building in which the house-museum is located is built in the Renaissance style. The entrance is decorated with columns, arches, sculptures of saints on the balustrade in the form of a loggia. Inside, however, reigns the era of neoclassicism, which is imbued in many exhibits in the museum.
