Loggia dei Maestri Comacini in Assisi is located in a historical building, 200 meters away from the Papal Basilica of Saint Francis. Builders from Como that were part of masonic guild used to live in the beautiful Loggia dei Maestri Comacini back in the 13th century. They participated not only in the decoration of the basilica of Saint Francis but also the most significant churches in Europe.
Currently, this historical building houses a hotel that offers all modern amenities and yet stays true to its original style that combines architectural and design patterns used in the 13th–16th century. This place has a lot of old furniture and unique historical objects. There is also a plaque set on the façade with number 1477 – the year that signifies the time when Lombardian stonemasons were working in Assisi. These legendary masons left their markings and writings on the walls of Casa del Maestri Comacini that still can be found there.
