Sempione Park, Milan

Sempione Park, Milan

Sempione Park is located in the historic part of Milan. It was built in 1888 in the city center. It was named in honor of the road with the same name, which appeared in the days of Napoleon – Corso Sempione. The Sempione park project belongs to the architect Emilio Alemagna. This site has long been used for entertainment by the citizens of Milan (in particular, for horse racing) and various celebrations. That is why it was decided to ennoble the area. Mr. Alemagna was the one to take up this task. He planned a luxurious park in the English style, which would stretch from the Sforza Castle to the Arch of Peace – a monument that was supposed to remind citizens of the victories of Napoleon Bonaparte.

During its long history, the Sempione Park in Milan has repeatedly changed its appearance. It has undergone major changes after the end of the Second World War. Viganò was the one in charge of the project of reconstruction and expansion. The square with the Arch of Peace and the last part of Sempione Street have become pedestrian. Nowadays, the park is a favorite vacation spot not only for the citizens of Milan, but also for tourists. Here you can connect to free wi-fi.
