Funtana Is Arinus Waterfall, Nurallao

Funtana Is Arinus Waterfall, Nurallao

Cascata di Funtana Is Arinus is a waterfall located in the national park under the same name in central Sardinia. The territory abounds in springs and fascinating vegetation. The height of this natural phenomenon is 20 m. The Sarcidano River has its source in the national park and flows to the Is Barroccus dam between the cities of Isili and Nurallao.

Funtana Is Arinus is located in the Sarcidano region, a hilly area offering a variety of landscapes. On one side, it borders with Campidano, a plain known for providing grain crops to the rest of Italy. On the other side, it abuts Barbagia, a mountain range in central Sardinia. For many years the range served as a bastion for defence against the attacks of enemies.

Another place where one can take excursions, stroll around and enjoy the sounds of nature and the aromas of herbs is the city of Nurallao in the centre of the region. A station of the Sardinian railway is located there which makes this place an easy reach.

How to get there

You can get to the waterfall Funtana Is Arinus from Cagliari passing 40 km along the SS131 road. At the Villasanta intersection take the SS197 road to Furtei. After passing the town continue moving straight on to Nurallao.
