San Valentino Waterfall, Sadali

San Valentino Waterfall, Sadali

San Valentino Waterfall is the main attraction of Sadali, a small village in Sardinia, and the whole region as it is the only waterfall there. It was first mentioned in the book on the history of the Catholic Diocese of Lanusei by the canon Flavio Cocco. Nearby sits another attraction of Sadali: a church erected in the 16th century in honour of St Valentine. It is after it that the fall was named.

The height of San Valentino is 7 m. It was formed by a number of springs and small rivers, and now its crests are covered with lush greenery. The waterfall runs into the cave of Sa Ucca Manna, which is equipped with a stone trail to make it more convenient for tourists. Within the hollow, the waterfall runs 150 m and then flows out of it outside of Sadali. Locals use San Valentino to irrigate fields. At any time of the year, the spring helps to maintain freshness of the air in the village.

 How to get there

The waterfall of San Valentino and the city of Sadali are located in the eastern part of the island. You can get there from Cagliari taking the road SS131 up to the forked path to Villamar. Then the road goes in the direction of Villanovafranca and Mandas.

Follow signs to Sadali and once you reach the village use St. Valentine's Church as a landmark. The waterfall is located just across the road to Via Roma.
