Statue of Charles V – this is a memorable monument that was erected in honor of famous Europe's statesman. It is located on the small square of Bologna in the central part of Palermo. Charles V in the period from 1516 to 1556 years was the king of Spain and Germany. In 1519 he proclaimed himself emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He was recognized as the last emperor of Rome, crowned by the Pope. It happened in 1530 in Bologna, with the participation of Pope Clement VII. Also, the emperor was the last ruler who managed to celebrate the triumph in Rome.

Charles V made a huge contribution to the history of Europe 16 century. He spent a few warriors with France, the Ottoman Empire and inside Germany. Actively participated and continued to play a leading role in the Great Geographical Discoveries. Also with the support of the emperor the Magellan expedition was organized.

He is dressed in Roman military clothing: a classic skirt and belt that wraps around the waist of the ruler. A sword hangs on the belt. The Emperor's breast is covered with a cloak, which is fastened to the left shoulder. The right hand of the emperor is open with the palm, and he leans with his left on the cane. Roman sandals are on the feet of Charles V and on his head – a laurel wreath.

  • Bus № 101, 102, 107, 118, 221, 231, 234, 812. The bus stop is Roma Vucciria (the market).
