Cascata di Novalesa, Turin Province
Cascata di Novalesa is a beautiful creation of nature, located in the Graian Alps. This wonderful place is suitable for summer picnics, hiking and winter tourism. Here you can see a whole series of 10 waterfalls, located near the Italian mountain town Novalesa. The main thing is that the settlement is located at an altitude of 828 meters above sea level. And near it there are 2 peaks – 3,500 and 3,600 meters high. This difference of heights creates a complex of waterfalls. Some of them are glaciers that dry up during the hot summer months, while others are full all year round. They have a different height: from 130 to 350 meters, which creates a unique natural charm.
In the summer it is cool and very beautiful, the picturesque place is suitable for climbing, hiking and family walks. In winter, most of the water freezes, creating glaciers of a bizarre shape. They are a favorite place for climbers, that are ready to climb on almost vertical ice slopes.
How to get there
The waterfalls are located on the slopes of the mountains near the commune of Novalesa, 7 kilometers from the town of Susa and just 60 kilometers from Turin. In the village there is an old abbey, founded in the 8th century. From the Porta Nuova train station in Turin, a train runs every 2 hours, on which you can get to the station "Susa" in the town of the same name. From there, buses 000274 and 000286 run every hour to Novalesa. If you are traveling by car, then from Turin you should take the E70 motorway, then turn to the SP210 road in Susa and follow the signs to Novalesa.
