Museum of Emilio Greco, Catania
The museum of Emilio Greco gathered in itself exhibits, which are devoted to the history of life and work of the famous Italian sculptor of the 20th century. The museum was opened in 1994 in the presence of the artist himself. Most of the exhibits Emilio donated to the collection of his native city.
Museum's collection
The museum's collection contains 150 lithographs and engravings, 25 exhibits from the Commiati series are especially valuable. Also in the collection there are classical works of the master.
In addition to the main exposition, the museum offers a number of additional services:
- In 1997, the museum of Emilio Greco was one of the first in Italy who proposed to enjoy a virtual tour.
- A large library was opened at the museum, where materials of the history of art and the monograph of artists are collected.
- Sale of temporary exhibitions.
- Probation opportunities for students.
- Excursions by appointment.
- Room for discussions, conferences and more.
How to get there
The Museum of Emilio Greco is located in the central part of Catania, next to the Roman Theater. A walk from the central railway station to the museum takes about 20 minutes.
Opening hours:
- from 09:00 to 19:00 (Monday to Saturday);
- from 09:00 to 13:00 (Sunday and public holidays).
