Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi
Church of San Francesco in Assisi - is the main Catholic church of the Franciscan Order. It was built in the 13th century. This structure consists of two layers, the top of which is on a hill and perfectly visible from different parts of the city. The lower level of the church is located in the hill and is a maze of underground rooms.
The interior of the lower church has a certain similarity to the ancient Roman crypt. A top church is harmonious embodiment of the Romanesque and Gothic styles. It amazes visitors with luxurious interiors and light and rich external facade.
