Pond of Colostrai, Muravera
The Pond of Colostrai is a small reservoir in Sardinia, near the town of San Priamo, North of Capo Ferrato. This is in the Eastern part of the Southern region of the island. In the late fifties of the 20th century, part of the rivers Picocca and Corr' e Pruna were redirected to the basin near the beach of Colostrai. A pond was formed in the place of stagnation of the estuaries. Colostrai refers to shallow lakes, but its flora is rich in many unique plants and animals. Fish breeding is organized in the pond. There are gilt-head bream, European bass, mullets, eel, mollusks and others.
A great variety of different species of birds lives on the saline banks:
- coots;
- ducks;
- cormorants;
- pied avocet;
- stilts;
- flamingoes.
Special attention should be paid to the natural gem of Colostrai – white storks. Together with the Lake Feraxi, the pond of Colostrai received the status of the Permanent Reserve for the protection of animals.

How to get there
You can reach the pond of Colostrai by car. For this it is necessary to move along the SS125 highway. You need to follow in the direction of Muravera. In the area of Capo Picci there will be an index to Torre Salinas, which leads to the pond.
