Nature of Notteri Pond
Lake Notteri was formed due to the connection of the island of Punta Santo Stefano with the land through two braids. As a result of this process, part of the sea was fenced and turned into a pond. The lake is drainless, therefore in the summer time there is a sharp drop in the water level. Notteri replenishes its waters due to precipitation. The water in the lake is salty.
The fauna of the salt lake of Notteri is represented by gulls, cormorants and other swamp birds. In winter, flamingos flock there. The lake is one of the few places on the east coast of Sardinia where you can meet these birds. Such inhabitants attract tourists and are a real tourist pearl of the peninsula of Capo Carbonara.
