Rocca sa Tiria, Cuglieri
Mount Rocca sa Tiria is a peak in the Montiferru mountain range in the western part of Sardinia. Recognized as one of the most popular natural attractions on the island. The height of Rocca sa Tiria is about 970 m. It is the 27th highest mountain peak in Sardinia and the 3890th in Italy. Formed from the rock of an extinct volcano, which was active in the period of 3.9-1.6 million years BC, in the Pliocene epoch. The last volcanic activity was recorded 3.6 million years ago. Volcanic lava included basalt rocks, trachyte, phonolite and other rocks.
The mountain neighbours with other large formations, such as Monte Entu, Monte Urtigu, and Monte Ferrus.
Climbing Rocca sa Tiria Mountain is quite popular among tourists and makes one of the most interesting excursions to the Montiferru mountain range.
How to get there
Rocca sa Tiria is located on the west coast of Sardinia. To get here from Cagliari, you need to follow the SS131 road, take the SS292 road at the junction of St. Antonio and drive to the town of Cuglieri. When you reach the town take the road SP19, which leads to the mountain.
