Piscina Irgas Waterfall, Villacidro
Cascata di Piscina Irgas is located in the commune of Villacidro, one of the most spectacular parts of Sardinia, which is a part of a nature reserve. Tourists flow here from different corners of the world to contemplate the beauty of the waterfall. Piscina Irgas settles itself between the stone walls of the cliff. Due to its unusual location, the waterfall landscapes enchant the eye. The area luxuriates in Mediterranean vegetation, and the cliffs are covered with coniferous trees, oak forests, juniper and other plants.
The height of the waterfall is 45 meters. The water streams flow through the mountain of Piscin'Irgas from the Oridda river. The waterfall can also be visited in winter after a period of heavy rains.
Piscina Irgas in Villacidro is a popular place among fans of canyoning, a sport that implies navigating one's way down the canyon of a mountain river on foot or by swimming using special mountaineering equipment.
How to get there
Take the road SS130 from Cagliari to the intersection that leads to San Sperate and follow the signs to Villacidro, and after that head mount Monti-Mannu.
Look for the pedestrian path № 113 to get there. Once you are on the path cross the Cannisoni river to get to the oak forest. The waterfall is about 2 hours walk from that point.
