Safari Ravenna, Ravenna

Safari Ravenna, Ravenna

Safari Ravenna located in a suburb of Ravenna is a great example of how people and animals can live together. It is a kind of crossroad of humans, animals, and the environment – all of them help create constructive and educational relationships, contacts, and emotions that generate mutual understanding. Here hundreds of species of animals can be found living in a habitat close to natural.

History and mission

This zoo is very young, it was founded in 2012. The whole place covers an area of 35 hectares. Safari Park is a natural, zero-impact area that is being studied to enhance the role of biodiversity preservation in order to protect wildlife and various endangered animal species. Since the part has high goals, scientific research studies are constantly conducted here. Educational events are also held here, especially with children.

Animals

The zoo boasts over 700 animals, around 100 different species. Like most modern zoos, the Safari Ravenna has rejected the barbaric concept of keeping animals in cramped cages. Many of them, mostly domestic and savannah species, have great freedom of action. So, it is easy to observe lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes, zebras, bison, camels, ostriches, llamas, antelopes and many other species in their natural environment. In the spaces where they live, there are spots where animals can hide from human attention. Moreover, the park closes early enough for the animals to rest calmly at sunset.

There is a separate “Reptile House” in the park where an adequate environment for lizards is created. Representatives of the so-called small fauna, rodents, today known by everyone as house pets can be found here as well.

Routes and services

Obviously, the park offers the visitor a safari, direct observation of animals from an electrical or special vehicle. The route length is 4 km. Moreover, there are some other areas:

  • Pedestrian zone. Here you can walk and watch the most common types of pets. The same zone includes the habitats of rather exotic animals: the island of lemurs, the island of baboons and the oasis of chimpanzees. The Reptile House is located here as well which also has a lot of aquariums with exotic fish. The park also possesses a didactic center.
  • Large shelter. This is a large area of 1200 square meters, covered with photovoltaic panels. A shop, a cafe, a picnic area, and a children's playground can all be found within this territory.
  • SafariLandia. The park also boasts a huge zone of water rides. The administration proudly claims that this zone is the largest on the Adriatic coast.
