Historical Museum of Reale Mutua, Turin

Historical Museum of Reale Mutua, Turin

Historical Museum of Reale Mutua (Museo Storico Reale Mutua) in Turin offers the visitor a rather unusual product. This is a museum of the history of the oldest insurance company in Turin. Here you can see its activities over the centuries, but also the interconnected history of the city. After all, the clients of these insurers were many famous personalities of Piedmont, including kings.

History of the company and museum

The company was founded at the end of 1828, and the following year, it received a license from King Carlo Felice and the Chiablese Palace was its headquarters. Significant expansion of activities occurred in the era of Risorgimento. In 1859, the company's branches were opened in Milan and several other cities in northern Italy. Since the 20th century and up to the present day, the company has been operating all over the peninsula. At the beginning of the 21st century archives were revised, and in 2007 a historical museum was opened. In 2013, the interior of the headquarters building was restored.

Exposition of the museum

The Historical Museum is located on the first floor of the company's headquarters, in the Palazzo Biandrate Aldobrandino di San Giorgio, a 17th century building. The exhibits are located in 8 rooms, on 400 square meters of the square. Most of the company's documentation is exhibited here, and a workstation of the early 19th century with original furniture was recreated in a separate room. The whole space of the museum is interactive, there are a lot of multimedia materials. The management of the institution did everything to ensure that even children were not bored when they visited.
