History of the park

The park begins its history from the late 50s of the last century. The idea and its embodiment belongs to the entrepreneur from Perugia Mario Spagnoli. Initially, the park was called "Monte Pulito" and was located on a hill almost completely devoid of vegetation.

The construction of a recreation place on the territory began with an olive grove and the construction of a house from which a beautiful panoramic view opened. Later, attractions began to appear, so that children did not get bored with their parents. At first the park was used for holding important meetings and conferences. But it was opened for the public in 1963. Since then, this place has become more child-oriented, and the entertainment spectrum is constantly expanding.

As in any place intended for family holidays, in the park of Città della Domenica you can find entertainment for everyone. The most interesting are:

  • Darwin Tower or Reptile House is a museum that is spread over two floors and occupies an area of ​​more than 1000 m². Here you can trace the path of evolution, with the examples of both fossils, and living reptiles. The museum recreates the habitats of various representatives of the animal kingdom and helps restore species close to extinction. It is one of the largest museums dedicated to reptiles in Europe.
  • Attractions – a lot of entertainment, among which everyone will find something to their liking. You can visit Little Red Riding Hood or Pinocchio village, get acquainted with Sleeping Beauty or Snow White, get inside the Trojan horse or try to find a way out of the maze. Every day games and contests are held here. The program is changing, and you can see the current one at the entrance to the park.
  • Fauna – the park is inhabited by various animals that can be found during a walk. Here you can find rare animals and usual for this area types. You can see, for example, deer, moufflon, squirrels, lamas, ostriches, kangaroos, snow owls, yaks, hares.
  • Train – you can walk around the park either on foot along the trail-paths, or on the train. This fabulous transport passes through the Magic Forest with elven houses, the Medieval region with knights and witches, and even gets to the Wild West.

How to get there

To reach Citta della Domenica park in Perugia, you need to go the Via Col di Tenda stop on buses № 108 and N.

Opening hours: the park accepts visitors daily from 10:00 to 18:00. Individual exhibitions and attractions can have their own schedule.
