This place is in the center of the Italian capital, near the Baths of Caracalla, St. John the Baptist Cathedral, the Colosseum . The barracks was accidentally discovered when laying a new branch of the Roman underground, at a depth of nine meters.
Archaeologists found the 39 rooms and a 100-meter corridor. Floor space is covered with black and white mosaics and frescoes on the walls can be seen. Historians believe that the building dates back to the reign of the Emperor Hadrian (117-138 years BC. E.). In this barracks could be bodyguards of the emperor - the Praetorian Guard. Excavations have only recently begun and will continue.
